Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC)

In order to accommodate passengers who require the use of supplemental oxygen on board, the Federal Aviation Administration and Transport Canada have authorized the use of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) onboard commercial aircraft.

Definition: An electronic device used to provide oxygen at a substantially higher concentration (90%) than that of ambient air and is an alternative to using compressed oxygen cylinders. These units function by filtering the nitrogen from ambient air and delivering oxygen in concentrated form to the recipient.

CanJet will permit the use of these concentrators under certain conditions as follows:

Personal Oxygen concentrators may be used on board any CanJet flight. The following models are acceptable for use: Inogen One, Sequal Eclipse, Airsep Lifestyle, Airsep Freestyle, Respironics Evergo. Spare lithium or lithium ion batteries may only be carried as carry on baggage under controlled conditions and sizes, and quantity is limited to amount needed for duration of flight. Also note that these devices must be self-powered, as there are no power sources available on board our aircraft. Please contact us for more details.

The POC and any accessories must be stowed underneath the seat in front of the passenger (may stow in the upright position, if not stow laying flat) whenever carry on baggage is required to be stowed and it must not weigh more than CanJet’s approved carry-on baggage allowance. Re: 10kg (22 pounds)

Spare batteries shall be individually protected to prevent short circuits and may be carried as carry-on baggage only and limited to two spare batteries per person. They shall not be transported as cargo or checked baggage. Each spare battery must not exceed the following quantities: for lithium metal or lithium alloy batteries, a lithium content of not more than 2 grams, for lithium ion batteries, an equivalent lithium content of not more than 8 grams, lithium ion batteries with an equivalent lithium content of more than 8 grams but not more than 25 grams.
