LIABILITY LIMITATIONS

Damaged or lost baggage must be reported in person within four hours of arrival at the destination airport.
All baggage must be suitably externally identified and packed in suitcases or in similar containers in order to ensure safe and convenient carriage with ordinary care and handling. CanJet assumes no liability for fragile or perishable articles including medication or medical devices, money, jewelry, silverware, negotiable papers, securities or other valuables, camera, video and electronic equipment, paintings, antiques, furs or samples of business documents or similar items in checked or unchecked baggage. CanJet shall not be liable for loss damage or delay in the delivery of such articles when they are included in the checked baggage with or without the knowledge of the CanJet. Despite handling luggage with care, CanJet considers the following damage normal wear and tear and will not accept claim for: scratches, nicks, missing straps, zipper damage, handles, retractable handles, scuffs, dents, soiling, manufacturer defects, wheels, seams, or over packed baggage.
In addition to the free baggage allowance, you are allowed to carry specific sporting equipment free of charge as shown on the list in the  Baggage grid. Please note that only one item listed in the grid will be transported free of charge to a maximum of 20 kg (44 lb) per passenger, and personal baggage and/or other sporting equipment cannot be substituted for the free sporting equipment allowance. Should the sport item combined with the personal baggage exceed the free allowance per person, applicable excess baggage fees will be assessed.
All sporting equipment is accepted only with a signed Limited Release Tag, releasing CanJet Airlines from any claim in regards to damage. For this reason it is highly recommended that you purchase travel insurance prior to your trip, to cover all such goods. Consult your travel agent or insurance for coverage.
Should you be traveling with a bag that is already damaged, one that is showing signs of age and wear, and/or packed beyond capacity, you will be asked to sign a Limited Release Tag to limit the airline's liability in this respect, before this item is accepted at check-in. We thank you for your understanding.
CanJet Airlines will do everything possible to carry your checked baggage on the same flight as you. However, should your checked baggage be carried on a subsequent flight (for safety, security or operational reasons), rest assured that it will be delivered to you free of charge, as rapidly as possible, unless applicable laws require you to be present for Customs clearance (or it was accepted as limited release or excess). Please note: excess baggage will travel only when space is available.

DAMAGED BAGGAGE

If we have damaged your baggage (whether it can be repaired or not), it is important that you immediately report this to a Passenger Service Agent at your destination within 4 hours of your arrival, who will complete a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). Failure to do so releases CanJet Airlines from any liability. The damaged baggage must be shown to the baggage representative to assess the damage. Please note that CanJet Airlines will not accept claims for normal wear and tear, including but not limited to: scratches, nicks, missing straps, zipper damage, handles, scuffs, dents, soiling, manufacturer defects, wheels, seams, or over packed baggage.

It is important to keep the damaged bag, even if you think the bag is beyond repair.

A PIR is required for all baggage claims. The report should be completed at your destination even if the baggage repair is planned only upon your return home. You have 45 days from the date that your claim was reported to present your baggage for repairs. In the unlikely event that you were unable to fill out this report, CanJet Airlines may, in its sole discretion, accept a request in writing within 7 days of the incident for review of the claim. At that time CanJet would evaluate your claim accordingly and decide on the final outcome. Please email us with your details at canjet.com.
